DOGBOY V CATFISH BY AUTHOR LUKE GRACIAS

Separation or divorce proceedings often involve conflicting accounts of events, emotions, and experiences from both the woman's and the man's point of view. Each party may have their own version of situation, feelings, and perceptions that contribute to their individual side of the story.

The blurb is as follows:

On the day of her second wedding, Katherine Fisher, aka ‘Catfish,’ set the date for her divorce. In precisely 18 months, she would be entitled to half of their combined assets and receive maintenance payments until her five-year-old daughter, Emma, turns 18.

Just as Catfish was about to take her husband, Lindsay ‘Dogboy’ Kramer (a successful businessman and dog whisperer) to the cleaners, he goes missing.

The police investigation into Dogboy’s disappearance leads them into the dark world of counterfeit designer goods, money laundering, and drug smuggling.

With Dogboy’s assets frozen and the mob protecting their interests, the missing persons case escalates to homicide. Catfish is in a race against time to get hold of Dogboy’s assets before the police get hold of her.

One question remains - is Dogboy dead or alive?

My Review:

It becomes very much important to recognize that the truth in some situations can be complex and multifaceted. It may not necessarily align with one party's perspective or be a simple compromise between the two.

As such, we can see how author, Luke Gracias, in his book, ‘Dogboy v Catfish’ has tried to narrate to us a story about our main female protagonist, Katherine, who after the death of her first husband, sets out to abuse the system by entering the life of our main male protagonist, Lindsay, with the intention of not building a life together, but to steal his to fuel her own future.

In the hopes of expecting to get two-thirds of her husband’s assets after a lengthy, expensive legal battle, she plans for a separation, however things take turn when Lindsay goes missing, and instead she stands to take it all, but not before she is brought into the spotlight as a suspect.

As has been rightly said in the book, some people are born with the mind of a catfish and others are born with the soul of a dog, and through out the entire story, we see just how true this is as the author represents a poetic and imaginative way of characterizing both Katherine and Lindsay’s behaviors.

My final thoughts:

Personalities can be influenced by a multitude of factors, including genetics, upbringing, environment, and personal experiences, and the way it has been shown in this engaging story, it provides a creative way to discuss and contemplate the diversity of their traits and behaviors, highlighting the inherent uniqueness and complexity of them both. Hence, I am going to give this FIVE STARS ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
