REVIEW OF RONALDO: THE PHANTOM CARROT SNATCHER

Date: 16 August 2019
By: Daily Madhu

The story revolves around a reindeer named Ronaldo and his best friend Rudolph. They both are flying cadets at the prestigious Reindeer Flying Academy and are competing for the coveted 'Golden Snowflake medal.'
To earn this medal, they have to pass several tests and show their skills.

The blurb is as follows:

Ronaldo and Rudi discover friends come in all shapes and sizes as they embark on a superhero mission to help a lost wolf cub called Ernie find her pack.
Rudi comes up with a plan to find the pack and deliver a message during a speed test at flying school. But Ronaldo isn’t totally onboard with the idea. He desperately wants to break the speed record and the plan means jeopardising his chance of becoming champion.

Will Ronaldo go for glory… or will he discover the true meaning of friendship and sacrifice the race for Ernie?

Bumbling Wing Commander Blitsen, head of The Reindeer Flying Academy, and mischievous brothers, Dasher, Comet and Prancer also feature in this fun tale of bravery and friendship.

REVIEW:

Ronaldo, named after the famous footballer, has a heart of gold. When he comes across Ernie, a small lost wolf, he leaves all his pre determined notions behind that the wolves are supposed to his mortal enemy, and does everything he can to help her.
Rudolph is a great supporting character and I'd say that everyone deserves a best friend like him.
And lastly, my sweet Ernie. She is so freaking adorable. I am definitely down to read more about her in the future books.
'RONALDO The Phantom Carrot Snatcher' by Maxine Sylvester tells us how Ronaldo and Rudolp help Ernie unite with her family.
It was definitely an amazing journey. At first, it may seem that Ronaldo was is in a dilemma, but he is such a good soul and ultimately does what his heart tells him.
I won't spoil the book by telling you who the Phantom Carrot Snatcher is, but I assure you that you won't be disappointed when you come to know about the culprit.
If I am not wrong, this book is intended to be for kids between the age 5-10. It had some words which will definitely add to the child's vocabulary. So, I consider it an added bonus that this book is not just for entertainment but also educative in nature.
The book goes way beyond a normal kid's book. It gives valuable life lessons. It teaches us the importance of sacrifice, the power of friendship, as well as covered an aspect of bullying.
I am personally of the opinion that good things will happen to those who do something nice without wanting any returns and that's exactly what happens with Ronaldo and Rudolph.

My favorite quote from the book: "Good friends make happy days brighter and problems lighter."

Initially, I was going to give this book four stars, but then I decided to add one more star for my sweet sweet Ernie. So, the final rating is solid FIVE STARS.
