REVIEW OF THE BLOODY BRIDE BY BREE PORTER

Written in first person POV, The Bloody Bride by Bree Porter is an arranged marriage love story between the daughter of a made man and the Prince of Chicago.

The blurb is as follows:

In between the towering skyscrapers of the Windy City, there lives a dark underworld where loyalty, violence and blood are all that matters.

Sophia always knew her marriage would be arranged and out of her hands, but when her husband-to-be is nonother than the notorious Alessandro 'The Godless' Rocchetti, prince of the Rocchetti family and Capo of Chicago Outfit, she finds herself falling into a nightmare.

The arranged marriage begins bloody and the violence does not end on their wedding day. Sophia is forced to navigate her new family, her grief, and the brutal world she knows. As well as dealing with her dangerous yet intriguing husband.

Secrets and threats surround her from the Feds and criminal world alike. Including the strange occurrences surrounding her sister's death…

My Review:

As stated in the blurb, the book starts with the wedding of our Heroine, Sophia Padovino to our Hero Alessandro Rocchetti, also known as the Godless and the Principe of Chicago.
Sophia is scared of Alessandro because of the things she has heard about him, portraying him as a monster. But she knows her duty and she would do what she has been taught to do for the sake of her family's reputation.
This book is aptly named ‘‘The Bloody Bride’’ and you would understand why within the first couple of chapters.
What I loved the most about this book is that right from the first chapter itself, the author takes us on this thrill ride. There are so many twists and turns to keep the reader engrossed. I love some good drama in my books. And this book was excitement and action on steroids.

My Thoughts on the hero:

In real life, if my boyfriend was mean or rude to me or acted like a complete wanker, I would kick him in his balls. But there's a difference between reality and the book world. The book world makes you fantasize about things that you won't in normal life. So, I love my book boyfriends who are jerks and bullies.
If there was a Jerk School, Alessandro would be it's principal. So how could I not love him? He also showed the tendency of being jealous and therefore earned another star from me. Suffice to say, he will definitely be in my Top 5 Book Boyfriends List.

My thoughts on Heroine:

In almost 85% of the books that I read, I hate the heroines. They are either complete doormats or they just keep yapping and act like brats because authors want to show us that they have a backbone. But Sophia was different. She was so strong, yet very much docile and soft when needed. I love that she had come to terms with her life, and was trying to be a good wife. And I am glad that the author didn't potray her as the rest of the the stupid heroines in this genre who rebel, backmouth and fight back just for the sake of it.

My favorite quote:

“𝓨𝓸𝓾, 𝓢𝓸𝓹𝓱𝓲𝓪 𝓡𝓸𝓬𝓬𝓱𝓮𝓽𝓽𝓲. 𝓘 𝔀𝓸𝓻𝓼𝓱𝓲𝓹 𝔂𝓸𝓾.”

My Rating:

If you love mafia romance, or arranged marriage story, you should absolutely give this book a try. I'm going to give it Five Bloody Stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I do think that the author is lying about this being her first book. Because this is a masterpiece and I'm sure not even many established authors can write so beautifully.

About the Author:

Bree Porter was born on Valentine's Day, so she never had any choice but to be completely and totally obsessed with love.
She has loved reading romance most of her life, from mafia to MC to paranormal (even aliens!). She began writing The Rocchetti Dynasty at the end of 2019, and published it on a whim the following February. She hasn't regretted it once!
When she is not writing, she can be found reading, watching crappy movies or crying over university assignments.
