REVIEW OF L.I.T LOST IN TRANSLATION BY HIMANSHU GOEL

L. I. T - Lost in Translation by Himanshu Goel is a poetry chapter book that encompasses poems of different random words that are intricate and very well written. 

The blurb is as follows:

L. I. T is an experimental poetry chapbook containing words in the poet's native language that he founnd to be beautiful and worth writing about.

"I hope there isn’t a time when we give more importance to words and forget about the meaning they carry.

They are words in the end, hollow until we utter them and give them life."

My review:

From a very young age, we are all introduced to poems, they are a regular part of our school curriculum, after all. 

While some grow out of it eventually, there are others like me who still admire poetry and are fascinated by it. So, when I saw this book, I couldn't dive into it fast enough and get lost in this work of literary. 

So basically, Lost In Translation is a collection of 26 short poems about various themes like Moon, Smile, Mazil, Sukoon, Aadat. 

Even though these poems are of small duration, don't be mistaken. Each and every poem has a very deep meaning, understanding that we wouldn't get even whilst reading a 1-2 page long poem. 

I have read several poetry books, but never have I connected with them the way with which I connected with this one. I read and reread them just because I couldn't get enough of them. 

This was supposed to be a flash read, and in a sense it was, but I liked this book so much that I savoured each sole poem, letting every single word soak. 

Few poems have some Hindi words, but I don't think it would be an issue for Non-Hindi readers because there is some sort of English explanation regarding the same. 

The only complain that I had with this book was that there just weren't enough poems. Now, you would ask me, ‘Are 26 poems not enough for you?’ And my answer is, ‘No! Not in this case.’ 

I am so in love with these poems that even 26 poems were not enough for me. Call me greedy, but if you read something as tantalizing as these poems, you'd want more as well. 

My favorite Poem:

Though I enjoyed each and every single poem in this book, I guess the one that stood out and the one that will stay with me for a long time would be the ‘‘Soch’’

‘The simplest of thoughts 

that can bring down empires.’

I am going to give this book Five Translating Stars⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

The Author has said that he wishes to write in Hindi, and after reading this book, I absolutely love his style, so I would definitely be on a watchout for anything else that he publishes.

Himanshu Goel is a 24 year old author and blogger based in Delhi, India. His fiction and poetry have been published in various literary magazines around the world.

He has published a fiction novel Tulsi and a few poetry collections, including the rational boy in love series.
