REVIEW OF LOST UNIVERSE BY KEITH BRANDON
Written in third person POV, Lost Universe by Keith Brandon is a first book in the fantasy series which takes place in the 2200s era, revolving around what is happening in the world after some 200 years.
The blurb is as follows:
16 adventurers depart from Earth on a mission to find the end of the universe. They failed to consider whether the end of the universe wished to be found... or whether it should be?
Welcome to the year 2255.
The Federation are now calling the shots and their tales of visits to Earth and secret testing on humans are disturbing and frightening. The crew must keep all their wits about them to survive this. The Earth they are told is no more; but is this the truth? Or is it part of an elaborate tale along with cloning, missing treasure and the mysterious Lady Markass?
And all the while, they are being watched...
My Review:
Generally speaking, I'm not a fan of Sci-fi genres. Its not a new category for me. I have tried reading many popular books from this genre, but always ended up putting them in my DNF stack.
So to be completely honest, going in, I did not have high hopes for the ‘‘Lost Universe’’. I thought this was just going to be another one of my DNF.
But I must say, this book was a totally unexpected surprise for me as I not only finished reading this book, but actually ended up liking it so much that I am now eagerly waiting for when I can get my hands on the next book in the series.
This was one of the few books that managed to keep me invested right from the beginning up until the very end.
The main reason why I think I ended up liking this book so much is because that it was very adequately paced. There was not a single dull moment in this novel and reading each page felt like I was actually there, soaking in all the emotions that the author wanted us to feel and actually living this fantasy.
I must say, the author has a very wide imagination and the way with which he encompasses the collection of characters is truly remarkable. This was his debut novel, though personally, looking at this masterpiece, I don't think that's true because no newbie can weave such a beautiful story and have everything come out so infallibly.
My Rating:
I absolutely loved this book and it definitely deserves all the praises. I'm going to give this book Five Federation Stars.
