REVIEW OF AGAINST TIME AND DESTINY BY ALKA DIMRI SAKLANI
They say that love is not perfect, and neither is it trouble free. It does not always come easy and there are insurmountable challenges and obstacles that the couple must face, however it is these hardships which makes it so great.
Love can be healing.
Love can be devastating.
Love can be dangerous.
On a misty morning, I meet a darkly handsome stranger, Samarth Ahuja. Our journey starts with aversion and attraction, a deadly combination. I learn our differences early on - I nurture, he destroys. I feel everything, he feels nothing. He is affluent, I am destitute. But when he promises to help me find my father who disappeared years back, I see the good in him, before I see the mask.
Forced to share a roof with him, I witness what the world failed to see… the darkness of his past, the despair, the damage, and yet, the hidden radiance, the hope, the promise. Slowly, I help him heal before he shatters me. Slowly, his love fills me up, before his betrayal empties me.
On a rainy night, destiny separates us, and his betrayal fills my heart with hatred - born out of love; again, a deadly combination.
But wait! It’s not the end. Our paths cross again.
However, will he be able to rekindle my love for him despite all odds? Or will the lava of revenge destroy both of us?
Review:
Surely, love takes a lot of work, but the realization that all the struggles and every second, every hour of the anguish and turmoil was for someone who is our entire world is definitely a feeling of worthiness.
‘Against Time and Destiny’ by author Alka Dimri Saklani is a book which shows us just how much the power of true love actually is, or can be, and teaches us what sacrifice, care, understanding and faith really mean.
Pihu, our main female protagonist of the story is someone who is far wise beyond her years with a tender heart but strong personality. A chance encounter with Samarth supposedly changes the entire course of her life and thus begins their journey of finding love.
Just when our couple feel like things might be turning out in favor of them, destiny has some other plans, separating them from each other.
However, if what they had is really true love, will these two meet again and solve their differences or were they the couple that just wasn't meant to be is a question that remains to be seen.
Not every love story is the stuff of fairytale. And the story of Pihu and Samarth was definitely twisted and extremely complicated. However, this is exactly what makes it such an enjoyable and a memorable experience for the readers.
Being narrated from the point of view of our female lead made it that much more relatable towards Pihu and a feeling of linkage towards her. Hence I am going to give this book FIVE STARS ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
