REVIEW OF OFFERINGS TO SELENE BY SOPHIE JUPILLAT POSEY

Often we may have heard about how moon is known to be a companion for those lonesome individuals who have no one to talk to, and how its relationship is different for each and every single person and the way they view it.

The blurb is as follows:

Offerings to Selene takes the reader on a magical journey of lunar splendor.

Through illustrative poetic storytelling, Sophie Jupillat Posey masterfully paints the moon in all of her vibrant facets: the nurturer, the sacred one, the seeker of vengeance, the beaming entity that reigns supreme over Earth and all of her dwellers…

However, this celestial voyage goes beyond Lady Selene herself; it is also a transformative trek into the psyche.

Within its luminous pages, this chapbook urges each reader to commune with the moon on a soul level.

My Review:

There is a reason why we can say that moon has always been favored by poets as it is something which has the capability to attract and enthrall them, making them worship its melancholic beauty.

In the book, ‘Offerings to Selene’ by Sophie Jupillat Posey, we see how the author has tried to bring a collection of poems that undoubtedly showcases the lunar landscape which is often shrouded in a haze of mystery.

The poems are all titled on the different types or characteristics of moon that we can see, but on a whole, they represent much larger perspective about viewing things, and life in general.

While each and every single poem from the book can be considered as deep and something which has a lot of meaning, my favorite out of the entire collection would be for sure Sacred Offering.

They say that it is only in the darkness that we are able to fully glimpse into the light, and as such, the night which is touted to be shredded in darkness, the moon relentlessly sits there as a sacred offering.

My Rating:

The author has done a remarkable job of binding all the poems together with a single theme and each illustrations that were provided before the poems were simply beautiful. Hence I am going to give this FIVE STARS ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
