REVIEW OF GUARDED BY MR. HANDSOME BY DEE JAMES
Date: 01 November 2019
By: Daily Madhu
Written in third person POV, ‘Guarded By Mr. Handsome’ by Dee James is a forbidden love story between retired Colonel, Arjun Warrier and the beautiful Natasha Rai, the girl he is supposed to protect.
Natasha Rai was a wealthy heiress running a successful business. With beauty, brains, money, and a loving family, she seemingly had it all. All but love! Just when she'd given up on men, on love, Arjun Warrier, the ex-army man who broke her heart, re-entered her life. One look at him, and her walls threatened to crumble. Arjun vowed to protect her from danger, but who will save her heart from him?
Arjun Warrier remembered Natasha as a beautiful teenager. He was unprepared for the stunning and confident entrepreneur who was facing threats from an unknown stalker. As the stalker raised the stakes, Arjun knew he had to keep close to Natasha. But, would he be able to keep his hands off her? Last time he'd walked away, it had almost destroyed them. Can he walk away unscathed this time around?
My review:
Though not a taboo, this book does sort of have a verboten feel to it.
The heroine, Natasha Rai is a political heiress, has her own boutique and is a well-known name in the fashion world.
The hero, Arjun Warrier has literally come up from the trash and now runs a security firm after an injury cut his army career short.
Natasha first met Arjun when she was merely fourteen and it had taken her just a few weeks to fall in love with him. When she turned eighteen, he broke her heart. Now at twenty-five, will he be able to win it back? Well, you will have to read the book to find all these answers.
The main reason why I loved this book so much was because it had all my favorite tropes. (Forbidden Romance, Second-Chance, Political family, Brother’s best friend). The author has written the book in a wonderful manner without making it a cliché and she most definitely has been successful in being able to engage and hold the reader’s interest.
After receiving certain threats, Natasha’s family appoints Arjun to protect her. These two have a history but they decide to keep their differences aside for the time being and try to find the culprit. I live for drama and so the mystery and suspense revolving around the stalker was the highlight for me in this book.
My thoughts about heroine:
Natasha was an absolute sweetheart with the way she helped others. She is strong and fierce and won't take bullshit from anyone.
My thoughts about hero:
Arjun was charismatic, but at times, I wanted to smack him on the head when he would just push Natasha away because he would feel that he was not good enough for her.
My rating:
I'll be giving this book five stars and would recommend it to anyone who loves clean romance with some drama. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
