Written in first person POV, Age was just a number by Shaheen Kazi revolves around the choice a girl has to make, where on one hand, there is a man who is her first love and on the other, there is another who loves her and makes her want to be a better person.
How many of you had fallen in love or is in the love for the first time with a person who was oar who is seventeen years older than you? Age was …just a number' is a book about the phases of age, where you feel your heartbeat & heartbreak the first time.
Doing anything first time always remains special in your memories and secret in your hearts. Sometimes it is better to let the infatuation die a natural death and give birth to true love when it’s time.
We all have love stories in our lives to tell but due to the absence of perfect listeners, many stories remain untold...
My Review:
You know you are about to read a great book when you are hooked on it from the first page itself. That's exactly what happened with me.
Right from the prologue, I was so excited to just dive into it. The whole aura of the mystery regarding what had happened with the heroine that made her so sad, the grief and the heartbreak, I could totally feel it.
I loved that the prologue gave us a glimpse of the present and then we are immediately taken back to the past where it all began.
The author put emphasis on explaining the things in a great detail, which made it possible to connect with the characters.
The story revolves around three characters, Sameera: The Female MC, James: Her past and Rehan, her present.
It felt like it was straight from a fairy tale story since Sameera met James at a literal Cinderella themed birthday party.
Its been made pretty clear that it was a love at first sight for her. At just 15 years of age, she knew what she wanted. She was completely infatuated with James from the moment she had laid her eyes on him.
But how will a love story be interesting if there's no difficulties, right? And that's exactly what we have here. Sameera loves James, but there's a huge bridge of age gap (17 years to be precise), caste and culture between them.
I won't spoil the surprise, but I totally loved the ending. I was so glad with Sameera's choice.
My thoughts on Heroine:
Sameera seemed to be quite mature for her 15 year old self. I loved the way how she handled the things. Yes, I agree that she did some things where I just wanted to shake her up and tell her to get over it, but apart from that, she was pretty good.
My thought on Heroes:
James was completely childish. I didn't like him much. The jerk was angry with Sameera, so he deliberately kisses his ex in front of her to make her jealous. Come on, are you freaking serious? Kissing another girl to make your lover jealous is so immature.
On the other hand, I loved Rehan. He was so charming and supportive. He made Sameera a better person and helped her grow out of her shell. His proposal at the end melted my heard. He was total boyfriend material.
My favorite quotes:
‘‘Tears are only water. Flowers, fruits, and trees cannot grow without water. But there must be sunlight also. A wounded heart will heal in time, and when it does, the memory and love of our lost ones are sealed inside to comfort us. We need never be ashamed of our tears. Let them flow, James, don’t stop them.”
‘‘Love is the sweetest feeling. Being in your arms, my heart was melting, boiling, burning, and sweating. Nothing can stop me from falling in love with you; Oh my darling! hold me once… Take me, for I love you more than I ever loved before.’’
My Ratings:
I would recommend this book for anyone those who love Romance books. Love doesn't see age, height, weight, colour of your skin. If you love, then you just love. You don't see anything else. I'm going to give this book 5 AGE STARS ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
